August Summer Music Series

Olympic Cellars kicks-off its 2010 summer concerts on Saturday evenings August 7, 14, 21 & 28th.  The outdoor concerts will take place on the winery grounds from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. and we invite the public to bring a picnic, taste some great wine and enjoy the music against a backdrop of the majestic Olympic Mountains.”

This year Olympic Cellars is partnering with 4 local non-profit organizations for the concert series. This partnership combines aspects of the winery’s Charity of Choice and 2X Success Initiatives. Olympic Cellars will donate all the collected cover charge ($5/ per person) in exchange for volunteer help in promoting and working the concert (set-up, wine bar, breakdown).

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as winery seating fills quickly.

ASTRO CATS – Issaquah’s famous band plays an energetic blend of original and popular rock and roll from every decade. The Astro Cats vaulted to notoriety in the summer of 2008 when they were sent to Morocco courtesy of the American Morocco International Exchange. As guests of the Moroccan government they represented the best of American Rock at the world class Alegria Music Festival.

This band is original and a breath of fresh air on the local music scene. The band loves to perform songs that are not overplayed but have that rock’n drive and are fun to sing along & dance to. Also they have the talent to play it all, no recorded tracts with these guys.

Their wide variety of rock n roll includes covers from Stevie Ray Vaughn, Kid Rock, John Cougar Mellencamp, Greenday, The Doors, Billy Joel, Fog Hat, Tom Petty, Head East, U2, Dire Straits, The Romantics, Cake, Stray Cats, REM, The Cars, Gin Blossoms, The Beatles, Marshall Tucker, Elton John, Eddie Money, Three Doors Down, Rush, Rob Thomas, Robert Palmer

"Handful of Luvin is an eccentric blend of harmony and considerate lyrics. Spawned from Seattle, Handful of Luvin is one the city's most adored live bands. The band is a unique blend of writing, music and overall emotion. Together, Handful of Lovin fashions music into an adaptation of magic." -Tanya Vece (Editor for the Horse Chronicles - Indie Music Magazine)

"Handful comprises a fine mix of experimental violin/fiddle on top of John Mayer-esque songs with undertones of harder blues rock, Celtic riffs and classical compositions. It’s a new music sensation that has lately been generating well-deserved hype in the Northwest."

A rock quartet featuring a rocking classically trained violinist, Handful refers to their music as "fiddle driven roots rock," and their cheerful blend of folk-rock, reggae and world rhythms, plus secondhand baroque and Celtic influences with catchy pop hooks, strongly recalls the vintage sound of Actual Tigers, the madness of Flogging Molly, and the moodier, more experimental side of Wilco.
