Olympic Cellars’ Red, White & New Wine Release Weekend to feature award winning vintages, music and the unveiling of Gracefully Aging Red
Port Angeles, Wash., June 26, 2008 – Olympic Cellars will commemorate the fifth anniversary of its popular Working Girl® Wines next month with the unveiling of Gracefully Aging Red, the fifth wine in the Working Girl series. The aptly named 2006 Zinfandel will debut at the winery’s annual Red, White & New Wine Release Weekend, July 12-13 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“We invite the public to join us in celebrating a very special anniversary during Red, White and New” says owner Kathy Charlton. “Working Girl Wines reflect Olympic Cellars’ evolution and growth over the past five years. Working Girl White recalls the beginning, when my partners and I initially met and decided that together we could take the winery in a new direction. We were three working girls with long careers in different industries.”
Go Girl Red, Charlton continues, is the energy that we dedicated to “making things happen.” Rosé the Riveter is the attitude – and realization – that we can do it, too! Our Handyman Red honors the special men in our lives that graciously helped with the heavy lifting while cheering us on. Gracefully Aging Red represents the present stage in the winery’s lifecycle, characterized by reflection, appreciation, and greater wisdom. We’re a little older and a lot wiser!”
Red, White & New will also feature Winemaker Benoit Murat’s first grape to bottle vintage, the multi-award winning 2005 La Dolce Vida Syrah, the limited edition Mélange Nouveau, a 2007 Madeleine Angevine wine gently infused with locally-grown lavender, and the winery’s heritage Dungeness wines. Music, the introduction of a new line of Olympic Cellars and Working Girl apparel in the winery gift shop, and a slide show and presentation by Murat chronicling his experiences working the harvest and making wine in New Zealand earlier this year will round out the weekend.
Mark Neilson will serenade guests with the sound of his acoustic guitar on Saturday from
1-3 p.m. On Sunday Richard Royce will add musical ambiance with an afternoon performance of classical and Flamingo guitar, also from 1-3 p.m. Both performances will take place in the winery’s Gathering Room.
