Climate and Landscape Study Finds North Olympic Peninsula Suitable to Grow Unique Grape Varieties for Quality Wine Production
Dr. Greg Jones, a Southern Oregon University professor and research climatologist who has studied the impact of climate on the suitability of wine grape regions worldwide, performed the 9-month long study. Jones delivered his conclusion that the North Olympic Peninsula provides sound potential for cool climate viticulture, and the local wine industry should capitalize on the ability to grow unique grapes with a light, crisp, and aromatic style of wine that pairs well with the seafood of the region.
Kathy Charlton says: “It is our hope that the study will attract growers to the area, thereby raising the profile of the North Olympic Peninsula as a premium wine growing region and enhancing the region’s rich agricultural heritage through new vineyard plantings.”

Olympic Cellars’ Working Girl wine label honored in ® Seattle Homes & Lifestyles’ Design 100
Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine has selected Olympic Cellars’ Working Girl White wine label as one of the 100 People, Places and Things ® that Define Seattle Design. The magazine’s staff and contributors found the laid-back “vintage contemporary” caricature of a woman relaxing with a glass of wine after a long day in pantyhose and pumps to exemplify a style that is “distinctly Northwest,” and to serve as an innovative example of how Washington wine labels are leading in design. Working Girl White is the first in a series of Working Girl wine labels created for Olympic Cellars in 2003 by artist Stephanie Mallon, formerly of Port Angeles.
Olympic Cellars Wins Prestigious Jefferson Cup Award
Port Angeles, Wash., Jan. 12, 2006 – Olympic Cellars has taken a giant step forward in its quest to bring recognition to one of the Northwest’s best kept secrets – the Lemberger grape. Winemaker Benoit Murat’s 2004 Dungeness Red Lemberger wine received the esteemed Jefferson Cup Award at the 2005 Jefferson Cup Invitational, which took place December 1 and 2, 2005 in Kansas City, Mo. Described as the Olympics of wine competitions, the Jefferson Cup honors the best of the best among U.S. wineries from all of America’s wine regions. The award is Murat’s first since becoming head winemaker at Olympic Cellars in 2004, and pays tribute to his debut Lemberger wine.

Olympic Cellars Receives New Awards! Olympic Cellars‚ 2002 Merlot Reserve and 2002 received Silver medals
